LIC Waterfront to Lower Manhattan: A Ferry Day Itinerary (Pier 11 + Battery Park)
Long Island City offers one of the best starting points for a waterfront day in New York. The skyline views are immediate, the ferry access is simple, and within minutes you can be gliding toward Lower Manhattan.
This is an easy half-day itinerary that connects LIC’s waterfront with Pier 11, Battery Park, and a relaxed harbor loop.
Start: Gantry Plaza State Park (LIC)
Begin at Gantry Plaza State Park. The restored gantries frame Midtown across the river, and the walking paths give you clear, unobstructed skyline views. Early morning light is especially good here, but late afternoon can be just as dramatic.
Grab a coffee nearby and take a short stroll before heading to the ferry.
Ferry to Pier 11 / Wall Street
The NYC Ferry from Long Island City to Pier 11 is one of the most scenic short rides in the city. The route passes Roosevelt Island, curves toward the East River bridges, and delivers you directly into Lower Manhattan.
Pier 11 places you steps from the Seaport District and just a short walk from Battery Park.
Seaport + Fulton Market
After docking, walk toward Fulton Street and the Seaport area. The cobblestone streets and waterfront seating make it an easy place to pause.
Food options range from casual bites to sit-down restaurants, and the harbor backdrop makes even a quick lunch feel like an event.
Battery Park Waterfront Loop
From the Seaport, continue south toward Battery Park. The waterfront path offers open harbor views and sightlines to the Statue of Liberty.
Castle Clinton marks the historic southern edge of Manhattan, and from there you can loop back north along the Hudson River Greenway toward Brookfield Place. It’s an easy walk with plenty of places to sit and take in the skyline.
The full route — LIC to Battery Park and back north — can comfortably fill three to four hours without feeling rushed.
If you’re arriving at Pier 11, Battery Park is an easy add-on — here’s a simple Battery Park waterfront loop with harbor views and a relaxed walking route.
